Buying trends
Buyings trends can be determined for each decade; simply identify the dominant number for the decade in which people were born and take that characteristic forward to the age when they are most likely to be purchasing. Each birth decade brings a unique buying characteristic. Three examples are set out below:
| Birth decade | Dominant number | Peak purchasing decade | Forecast |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1960-1969 | 6 | 1994-2004 | The dominant characteristic of all those born with a 6 in their birthdate is the home. They loved their childhood home, and the security that the building offered. Their highest priority was spending on their house and home. Given that they were also members of the second population 'bulge' after the 2nd World war it is no surprise that house prices rose so dramatically. |
| 1970-1979 | 7 | 2005-2015 | The number 7 represents sacrifice. There is something of the sacred about this group that leads them to avoid logical analysis - to follow the spirit. Those aged 25 to 35 (in the decade 1996-2007) may even wish to sacrifice their lives for an ideal. |
| 1980-1989 | 8 | 2016-2026 | In sharp contrast to those whose dominant number is 7, those dominated by 8s are precise, logical and give great attention to detail. These are the programmers who dominated the internet and software development from an early age (in the decade 1995-2005) - and the bankers and lawyers who created enormous wealth with complex financial instruments. |
